Monkey See Monkey Do

Seems like my massage practice has started off 2016 as the year of the child instead of the year of the monkey. Maybe the two are synonymous!
Having 3 monkeys of my own, I know how important it is to touch with compassion, comfort and empower kids regarding their bodies.
So many of my clients understand this as well and I’m so blessed and honored that they give me the permission to massage their babes.
They understand that their kids live in our fast paced world.
Kids are engaged in many sports and academics and have lots of social stresses.
They need to unwind just as much as any of us grownups do.
They deserve that.
I get mostly moms telling me they massage their kids at bed time, trying to ease the growing pains, aching muscles and pounding heads as best they can.
I empower them. Yes, do what comes naturally, nothing you do is wrong, it is instinct. Go with what feels right. I do.
That’s all I do. Instinct. Add my experience and skill to the equation and my role as a therapist and healer come together.
My assessment skills guide me to the trouble spots.
I want to emphasize how important touch is. We want to, but don’t always do. Bodies crave it.
The serotonin created by touch not only heals the receiver but the giver as well. It’s a bubble you don’t even know you’re in.
That’s why I love what I do so much. It not only gives my clients relief and healing but it’s a codependent relationship for me as well.
I heal with you, and learn from each of you. So thank you.
Back to the kids. I get parents bringing their kids to me for numerous reasons. Mostly sports related, but also nursing issues, verbal and emotional holds, puberty, growing pains in the legs and back and neck, headaches, colic, torticollis, troubles sleeping, attention deficit, low self esteem, over use.
I could go on and on.
So, in honor of my littlest clients this month, I say thank you.
Thank you for letting me into your sacred space, thank you moms and dads for your trust, and thank you healing hands for your guidance.
New moms… you know who you are… I really look forward to teaching you and dad some great moves to connect and bond with baby. Make an appointment.
My room is warm and ready to teach with patience and care and lots of practice.
To my current parents, continue to book sessions for your growing beans, they should not be forgotten in the rush of our schedules and weeks.
And to the parents who are thinking about bringing their kids in… you know it’s right for them, talk to them about it, ask them if they are interested, talk about your own sessions and what they are about, let them decide for themselves if its right.
That’s what I do with my own kids. They are in charge of their bodies, I empower them, inform them and let them know it can only be a good thing.
I love what I do.
Letting all my clients know I still have availability in March.
J.
